Lily’s Home

The Mission:

To join those who have been silenced, to help find our voices and speak the truth of our oppressions by utilizing creative and alternative forms of therapy to find our personal modes of expression and healing.

To help spread the word of the oppressions we face, the lies and denials perpetuated by those in power.

To show the successes of those who have faced their demons and risen above victimization.

Now Discussing:

The following is task # 3 from the Blogger’s U Writing 101 challenge, and the way I’m posting it here is a basically the free-form I wrote down at the time. I will be posting this in a more “polished” form later, most likely as an intro page to the Music/Song Therapy idea that this begins to describe.

This task took me awhile to complete as I had to really think about which songs were truly influential in my life. Honestly, I could fill several more CD’s with songs that have impacted my life. So to pick only 3 has taken me a few days to figure out.

However, I decided to do the first 2 songs and I’m hoping that the third will come to me by the end.

I’ve memorized many songs over the years – to the point of being able to recite/write the lyrics down to near perfection. Then again, my memory has always been near photogenic, when I wanted it to be.Anyway, the very first song I memorized at the tender age of 5-6, was “Sweet Dreams” by The Eurythmics. It was my favorite song for years, and the only song I remember from that specific age. This was just before my father was caught molesting me.
